ROD CLASS: SUPREME COURT REPORT
Rod's Supreme Court hearing on his case in Washington, D.C. (the "DC Gun Case") was held on October 4, 2017. Jenner & Block argued the case for Rod.

The SCOTUS ruling should effectively answer this question: Does a guilty plea inherently waive a defendant’s right to challenge the constitutionality of his conviction?
The number of plea agreements has exploded in the last 20 or so years. Either the number of guilty people rose, and they pled guilty in a deal has grown exponentially, or the number of innocent people pleading guilty to stay out of jail has grown.

What happened to the jury trial? If crime has grown so much, and more people are in jail today than ever before, shouldn't the number of jury trials have also risen?
What is it about the plea agreement that is so valuable to these courts that they encourage the practice, and why are so many people signing them, giving up their right to a jury trial, their right to appeal, their right to due process, right to negotiate on level ground?
The plea agreement is a contract.
What other documents do we sign that might be used as contracts?
Traffic tickets ... License documents ... Property declaration documents ... and more. How could they also be affected by the outcome of this case?
